EVERGREY - Album Review of 'Hymns For The Broken'

Writer: onrequestmagazineonrequestmagazine

Meshing elements of metal, hard rock, and alternative rock, the hit metal band Evergrey is set to return with the release of their new album, "Hymns For The Broken". Taking fans on a journey spiritually and emotionally, the band uses their trademark sound, energy, and dark poetic imagery that speaks to our darkest thoughts and the struggles we all go through every day. Stripping away the masks we all wear for the outside world and delving into the people we truly are, "Hymns For The Broken" explores a vast world both internally and externally. Seeming to tell a story that each individual listener can imagine that is unlike anyone else's experience, the album showcases the pumped up, energetic rhythm in their music, such as in the song "A New Dawn", and showcases the almost cinematic narrative their music and lyrics set up. Even in more toned down songs like "King of Errors" and "Wake a Change", we get to hear the emotional tones implied by the lyrics and infused with face melting riffs and bone shattering vocals. On top of this epic release, it has been announced that in the video clip set to release for "King of Errors", former band members Henrik Danhage (guitars) and Jonas Ekdahl (drums) are rejoining the band, elevating the band to a whole new level in terms of music and storytelling. Returning to full strength that the band Evergrey first began with in 2010, the release of "Hymns For The Broken" is a much needed and much loved gift for longtime fans and newcomers alike. We here at On Request Magazine are honored to have gotten the opportunity to review such an amazing album, and look forward to hearing more from this fantastic band. Look for Evergrey's "Hymns For The Broken" on September 30th, 2014!
