Sometimes an album can sneak up on you with it's simplicity and prove that it holds the most impact. That was the case when we were contacted to review J Burn and his album, Burnt Blue. Capturing the essence of classic Americana rock and roll, this 4-song album is living proof that an eloquent beauty can still exist in today's music industry. Reminiscent of a Neil Young vocal and Johnny Cash melody, J Burn uses his singer/songwriter background to bring an honesty to his work. When listening to songs like "Memory Lane" or "Our Song Shared", one gets the sense that he speaks the utter truth, never hiding his pure talent or his life experiences. A San Fransisco native, J Burn kind of comes across as a more folksier version of The Grateful Dead, and makes this reviewer feel as if we're being transported back in time to the golden age of psychedelic, feel good rock music from the 70's. Yet, this throwback genre still manages to feel current, capturing an innocence that is hard to find in today's world. Overall, this is music that needs to be heard. It's a quick listen, and yet it packs a punch with it's vocals, it's rhythmic heart and thoughtful lyrics. Fans of classic rock, Americana and psychedelic rock will love this album, so be sure to pick up your copy of J Burn's Burnt Blue now!
