A mix between the soulful jazz vocals of Norah Jones and the graceful melodies of Lindsey Sterling. That's how this reviewer would describe Kimia Penton, the singer/songwriter and violinist turned psychologist. With her latest album, Lessons From Life and Love, she looks to use her life stories of travel and culture to conjure up a sense of love and hope in the world again. Kimia's background is quite impressive. Born in the Middle East, raised in London and now living in Dallas, TX, this incredibly powerful artist has lived among various people and cultures to experience a great deal of what life has to offer. Her work as a psychologist has made her an ideal performer and writer to analyze people's behavior, beliefs and differences. She uses these experiences to create heartfelt looks into the hearts and souls of people in the world. Exploring themes of unconditional love, unrequited love and the loss of loved ones, Kimia's haunting melodies and sweet vocals are perfectly highlighted on this 3-song album. Hits such as "Pieces", "My King of Love" (violin and vocal cover), and "Start Again", all serve to mark a truly emotional story, and makes the audience feel something on a personal level, which is something pretty amazing in itself. With future collaborations leading to new albums in 2016, we here at On Request Magazine are honored to have gotten the chance to review this album, and hope you all will pick up your copies of Kimia Penton's Lessons From Life and Love today!
