The Plastic Yellow Band Breaks The Mold With 'Above Gravity'

Sometimes, a band or artist will come along that captures an audience in both heart and soul. They'll envoke such strong emotional feelings and thought provoking lyrics that one can't help but be enraptured by their sound. Bands before such as Pink Floyd and Coldplay have done it, and of course an artist such as John Lennon certainly has done that. Now another band is looking to take up that mantle and follow in the footsteps of those great artists before them, and that's Plastic Yellow Band. With their album Above Gravity, the band looks to bring the same level of originality, emotion and sincerity of the classic rock eras of the 60's and 70's, and combine it with the rhythms of the modern progressive rock scene. This album starts off with quite a kick, with a 21-minute anthem song called "Starlight", which takes the audience through the various genres that make up the band, from the soft melodies of indie/alt rock, to the classic gritty rock and roll of the 70's, to the fast-tempo of modern rock songs. After the intense experience of that, other songs like "You Lied to Me" and "Promises" captures the ability of their predecessor's to tell these visceral tales through their music. Yet what sets the band apart is their ability to bring the music of the past into the modern day, making them pioneers looking to revitalize a style of music that is too often overshadowed by modern hits.

The guitar work is superbly intricate in this album, and the harmonious vocals combine exquisitley with the smooth rhythms of the band's music. This is a must listen album, and can be listened to on Soundcloud now. If you guys enjoy this album as much as we did, make sure to show them some love, and pick up your copies of Plastic Yellow Band's Above Gravity today!
