One such artist has caught our attention, and that musician is rapper and hip-hop artist Jelani Lateef, a.k.a. J Fury, and his recent follow-up to his 2015 album of the same name, the mixtape "Cold Days and Dark Nights." A career spanning over a decade, the talented rapper and singer has created a truly unique hip-hop album that sets itself apart from the rest of the other artists in the industry. There's almost a sense of urgency and need that is conveyed beautifully in this record, and the master lyricist has woven a collection of poetry set to music with this album. A Chicago-native himself, the tracks on this album seem to not only tell a cinematic tale, but to put forth a message that speaks to a community, and gives this community a positive and important voice to follow. With songs like "No Fear," "Dreams" and "Stay Strong feat. Fiyah Wayne," this is a truly one of a kind record that comes at a time when our society craves voices to speak up for us all. To speak up for equality, change, and hope.
